The SVIBI Experience

At SVIBI, we desired to create a collaborative forum for innovation that was truly novel. The SVIBI format is a unique blend of executive-to-executive peer learning, a platform of collaboration, and mentorship by world-class innovation experts that extends well beyond a yearly conference – A place where leading academics and executive innovation teams can come together to create and implement the newest ideas around innovation, share experiences of success and failure with their non-competitive peers in a confidential setting, and craft a 12-month innovation execution plan in private consultation with the Institute’s faculty.

Day 1 – Defining Innovation & Understanding Dynamic Capabilities

Learning Objective & Expected Outcome: During the first day of the summit, participants will be introduced to contemporary topics in innovation, some perspectives on the “state of innovation”, and how the development of an innovation framework begins with understanding the fundamentals of innovation. Teams will also be introduced to the Dynamic Capabilities framework, and how its implementation positions firms for success in the highly-competitive and constantly-evolving global landscape.

Day 2 – Building a Culture of Innovation Framework

Learning Objective & Expected Outcome: This second session builds on the first day’s introduction with a deep-dive into the “how” behind building a culture of innovation and how companies maintain their competitive advantage and innovative “edge”. The day’s sessions will focus on the tools, perspectives, and various other proven frameworks that arm firms with the resources to not only assess the current state of innovation worldwide, but understand how well innovation is integrated into their specific ecosystem & industry.

Day 3- The Innovation Roadmap

Learning Objective & Expected Outcome: This third session is the bedrock of the SVIBI experience, in that it takes what has been learned over the previous two sessions and helps your executive innovation team develop an innovation roadmap tailored specifically to your organization’s needs and objectives. This roadmap will include innovation objectives, detailed checklists, and milestones that become the customized framework utilized by your team as it implements what it learned.

Post Summit – Executing on Your Firm’s Innovation Roadmap

Optional: If, after the un-conference you decide to commit to the implementation of your customized innovation plan, then during the subsequent year our faculty are available to serve as ongoing guides, mentors, facilitators, and accountability partners to ensure the successful execution of the plan (private coaching after the summit is not included in the summit fee). The program might culminate with the 2019 conference in which you share with your peers, and with next year’s invitees, the outcomes of your innovation journey.


The SVIBI Method

The SVIBI format is a unique blend of executive-to-executive peer learning, a platform of collaboration, and mentorship by world-class innovation experts that extends well beyond a yearly conference. Part of the SVIBI methodology includes deep collaboration with the SVIBI team in assessing your firm’s current innovation initiatives through interviews and the development of your custom SVIBI innovation matrix.

Peer Learning

The SVIBI learning experience is a gathering of executive innovation teams from some of the largest and most innovative global companies. They share thoughts on the “status of innovation” and what it has meant to their companies. It is a discussion among peers about what works, what doesn’t, and what may work better.

From this exchange of ideas, experiences and contributions from peers, participants become partners in the exploration of the true nature of innovation. Participants discover how to apply and integrate proven frameworks of innovation into their management teams and companies. After the conference ends, peer-to-peer collaboration extends beyond the SVIBI experience through an optional series of facilitated discussions and mentorship sessions throughout the year.

Collaboration

Once executives decide to embark on the SVIBI experience, they collaborate with the SVIBI team and faculty in customizing and personalizing the institute’s program and content. They are introduced to some of the world’s leading innovation academics and optionally participate in a conference call focused on the session’s curriculum, case studies, and pre-session preparation. Further, participants may be invited to create content that will help drive the direction of the 3-day un-conference as well as co-lead break-out sessions on topics in which they demonstrate a unique perspective.

Mentorship

The cornerstone of the SVIBI experience is the world-class mentorship made available to participants (the “executive innovation teams”) via one-on-one private sessions during the event, with the option to engage the faculty for ongoing coaching and accountability after the conference (not included in the fee). During this optional post-summit phase, SVIBI innovation experts and participants work together, well after the annual event, to constantly refine their innovation execution plan and to implement it with guidance and coaching. This unique mentorship is intended to maintain a certain discipline requiring reflection, refinement, and application on the experiences shared during the summit.

Application

For those executive participants who choose to extend the SVIBI experience beyond the summit and into their own boardroom, SVIBI works with companies to assemble the best-suited “innovation team” to help apply the innovation frameworks explored during the summit. These ongoing consulting engagements include a continuously-evolving assessment of the firm’s innovation initiatives and recommendations on how to refine and strengthen their application with a keen focus on measureable results and metrics. Furthermore, SVIBI can design company-specific and confidential programs that can be delivered to the broader management team at participating firms.
